The Blind Side

I watched this movie again for the second time today and I’m seriously so touched. Michael Oher grew up in the projects. He had no father because he ran away and was in jail and his mother was a druggie. He grew up with nothing but was so blessed to have met some strangers who provided him with food, clothes, shelter, and love.

Now, he plays for the Ravens and has a great career doing something he enjoys and a family who loved him for no reason at all. It’s amazing how this family opened up their home to a kid wandering the streets with nowhere to go and that kid becomes so successful.

It’s amazing how God provides. =)

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” —Ephesians 4:31-32

“Forgive and forget. That’s what they say. It’s good advice, but it’s not very practical. When someone hurts us, we want to hurt them back. When someone wrongs us, we want to be right. Without forgiveness, old scores are never settled; old wounds never heal. And the most we can hope for, is that one day we’ll be lucky enough to forget.” —Meredith Grey (Greys Anatomy)

8 Fears

  1. Love.
  2. Rejection.
  3. Bugs.
  4. Clowns.
  5. Water. It’s not a huge fear but I think it’s scary how we don’t know much about the oceans because humans can’t go as deep as they’d like.
  6. Idk if this is a fear but I’ve always feared becoming an adult. I don’t know if I’m ready to take on life alone without my parents and becoming a parent myself. It sounds exciting to me but at the same time it’s nerve-racking.
  7. Needles/knives. I legit cannot hold a knife without freaking out and without imaging the worst case scenarios of someone getting stabbed. Augh, it’s terrible.
  8. Pigeons. That’s the one of the very few reasons I hate NYC.

“After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul and you learn love doesn’t mean leaning and company doesn’t always mean security. And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts and presents aren’t always promises and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and and your eyes ahead with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child. And you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight. After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much so you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers and you learn that you really can endure, that you really are strong and you really do have worth and you learn and you learn with every good-bye you learn.” —Veronica A. Shoffstall (via quote-book)
